What gets optimized

  • Hidden layers removed (they render nothing but add file size)
  • Layer and shape names stripped (not used by Lottie runtimes)
  • Float values rounded to 3 decimal places
  • Comment and class fields removed

All processing happens in your browser. No file is uploaded to any server.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce Lottie JSON file size?

Upload your Lottie .json or .lottie file to this optimizer. It automatically removes hidden layers, strips layer names not needed at runtime, rounds float values to 3 decimal places, and removes unused comments — reducing file size without affecting animation quality.

Is it safe to remove layer names from Lottie files?

Yes. Layer names (the nm field) are metadata for After Effects and design tools. Lottie runtimes (lottie-web, lottie-react, the iOS/Android SDKs) do not require them to play the animation. Removing them reduces file size with no visual impact.

Will this change how the animation looks?

No. The optimizer only removes data that is not used by Lottie runtimes: layer names, hidden layers, comments, and excess float precision. The animation timing, colors, shapes, and motion are all preserved.
